Implementing Advisor Development Roadmaps

Welcome to this week’s Virtual Coach for Field Leaders! The purpose of this tool is to provide you with practical ideas and best practices on how to fully maximize the HPN University with your producers. This week we’re going to focus on our Advisor Development Roadmaps as part of the ongoing coaching process.

You can find the Advisor Development Roadmaps in the main menu of the University under “Coaching Resources”. These roadmaps enable you to provide weekly coaching for your advisors to hold them accountable for taking responsibility for their own skill development.

Let me show you how this works. Depending on what year in the business your advisor is in, assign them their respective roadmap.  Let’s start with the Year 1 Advisor Development Roadmap. You would enroll an Advisor in their first year in this program immediately finishing their Initial Training, Trustworthy Selling, or proprietary training provided by your company.

Once they receive the email notification letting them know they have been enrolled in the program, the idea of this is for them to watch one video each week and take the respective quiz for that video.  You have access to a one-page coaching guide so, during your weekly one-on-one coaching and mentoring sessions, you’ll be equipped with questions and activities related to that video.  This provides a great 20-30 minute coaching session with your advisors.

This ensures that you are focusing on something developmental oriented each and every week and also ensures the rep has some “skin in the game” so to speak as their demonstrating their willingness to invest in their development.

Additionally, we’ve organized the months by topic, so you have the flexibility to assign specific modules based on skill deficiencies. For example, if you’re working with someone who’s really struggling with prospecting, then you can assign specific modules based on that skill deficiency.

Once your advisor completes year one, you would enroll then in year two and so forth. The Year 2 and 3 Advisor Development Roadmaps are set up in the same manner but with more advanced content and they don’t include quizzes and coaching guides.

Our data reveals that 31% of the activity within the University is occurring on Saturdays and Sundays and a big reason for this is coaches and mentors are assigning these modules for their mentees to complete as homework. This should provide you with a turn-key approach to coaching each week and help you to keep those mentoring sessions fresh and productive.

We want to know what you’re doing in your day-to-day. Tag us on social media with the hashtag #HPNLife and share how you’re utilizing your HPN University subscription!

Good luck and see you next time!
